Reading Guinea Pig Rescue

If you live in the Reading or Oxon area and are looking for a guinea pig or two you have come to the right place. We are partially funded by our local RSPCA branch who receive no funds from the main organisation of the RSPCA. However we are not an RSPCA establishment ourselves. We have been running the rescue since February 2001. We are not an animal centre that is open for public viewing, RGPR is run from our home.

In 2010 we rehomed 35 guinea pigs at Reading Guinea Pig Rescue. We have found that our average for rehoming is around 40 guinea pigs annually but as with everything there are “peaks and troughs”. We are closed for the festive season now (unless you have a lone guinea pig and have previously adopted from us), opening again on January 15 2011 for homechecks. Many thanks for all your support during 2010.

Some have been rehomed directly from here, others have been rehomed from their own homes but we have made the link and asked the questions we use when we rehome before the current human decides if the potential adopter is suitable. All these homes are also at least Animal Welfare Act compliant though the potential adopter takes responsibility for the health and wellbeing of their new guinea pig(s).
